Construction Trades

 

Basic Construction Skillshs-con1
This course prepares a person to enter the construction industry in many trades including carpentry, electrical, heavy equipment operations, pipe-fitting and more. Hands-on experience will be gained from lab work, projects and occasional job-site visits. National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER) certification in the CORE Curriculum is available to students over 18 years of age at the time of completion. High school and Western Wyoming Community College credit available.
 
Carpentry
Material will relate to residential construction, with commercial and industrial applications also covered. Hands-on experience will be gained from lab work, projects and occasional job-site visits. High school and Western Wyoming Community College credit available.

BIO

Joe Miller teaches Basic Construction Skills and Carpentry. Joe, owner of Miller Construction, has 43 years’ experience in residential and commercial carpentry and 14 years’ experience as a teacher. He has built a total of 5 residential homes with Rawlins High School students, including 1 through the newly revitalized CCHEC Construction Trades Program. Joe’s students master the art of teamwork and experience many aspects of construction trades as they build a home from the ground up. Joe’s quality instruction and leadership is seen through the students’ finished product.
